Ken Chang, Director
Before coming to Charis Bible College. Ken was employed as a Local Government Officer and did voluntary work with the Youth Justice Service as a Young Offender’s Panel Member.
However, the message of God’s unconditional love and grace taught at Charis has changed his life forever.
Ken and his wife Pat came to Charis Bible College Walsall in September 2009 after having received a word from the Lord. Neither of them were familiar with Andrew’s ministry, but they stepped out in faith because they knew they had heard God calling them.
Ken started the correspondence course in September 2009 due to work commitments and later converted in the January 2010 to full-time day school alongside his wife Pat who had started day school in September 2009. Ken and Pat completed 3 years and Ken remained at Charis for an additional year making 4 years in total. During Ken’s 4th year he was offered and accepted the position of “Director of Pastor & Partner Relations”, alongside the role of co-ordinating the weekly healing school, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed.
In August of 2015, he was invited to the role of “Dean of Students” by Gary Luecke and the Board of Trustees, and in October of 2015, he was confirmed by Andrew & Jamie as the new Director for Charis Bible College Walsall. Ken initially looked at his inadequacies and questioned whether he could ever take on such a position, but he was prompted and persuaded by the Holy Spirit, as he heard him say, “follow me and I will take you to places that you have never dreamt of”.
As director of Charis, Ken states that what gives him the most satisfaction is:
- Witnessing student lives being transformed, set free, healed and made whole by the life sustaining power contained in the word of God that is taught at Charis.
- Witnessing students fulfilling their potential in what God has called them to do, as they receive the revelation of God’s perfect love demonstrated in Jesus which never fails.
Finally, knowing that Charis Bible College is equipping and releasing world changers who are taking the Gospel message across the nations. Truly Charis students are – New Creations in Christ!
“These that have turned the world upside down” Acts 17:6.
Transforming Lives, Training Leaders and Changing the World!
Antionnette Carpenter, College Dean
Antionnette is a graduate of a London University, where she studied Nursing. After qualifying as an RGN and working in this field for several years, Antionnette and her husband Trevor, obeyed the call of God to attend Bible College. As a family, with their son Jordon, they relocated to Walsall, West Midlands to attend Charis Bible College in 2012. Antionnette and Trevor, both graduated from Charis in 2014, and completed the Third Year Ministry Training Programme in 2015.
Before coming to Charis, Antionnette also served as a Sunday School secretary in her local church in London for many years assisting with the management of over 40 staff faculty members and over 200 children. She organised and coordinated several events for the Sunday school department per year.
She is currently the College Dean and relishes the privilege of being in this position to serve staff and students alike, to accomplish the vision to ‘change lives and ultimately change the world.’
Lorna Wilson, Missions Coordinator
It was in 2013 that Lorna began her Charis experience after deciding to retire from 32 years of General Nursing.
Following 3 years at Charis Bible college an opportunity became available to work within the Ministry. As Lorna has stated, ‘It is just awesome how Godly opportunities are sent our way!’.
In 2016 she started working for AWME/Charis as Receptionist/Purchaser for AWME and Missions Coordinator for Charis Bible College. Due to the growth of the college her role is now totally focused on coordinating the students’ mission trips. This has been an exciting development.
Her role as Missions Coordinator is to inspire students with regards to mission as much as it is to organise their mission trips abroad and in the UK, taking the Gospel as far and as deep to people of a different culture and environment to their own.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her work has been to witness the transformation of the students on their return from missions. Initially they are very apprehensive, but on return they are beaming and buzzing from their experience!
Lorna has found it to be an exciting and challenging role and she is loving it!
Lucy Curtis-Prior, 3rd Year Coordinator
Having spent a number of years working with young people, first as a teacher and then in various roles in the youth justice system, Lucy discovered the Grace of God and the power of His Word through Andrew’s teachings. This gave her a desire to attend Charis Bible College in Walsall, from which she graduated in 2012. Lucy was then given the amazing opportunity of heading up the 3rd year Leadership Programme in Walsall, which she enjoys more and more each year. She values the relationships that she is able to build with the students and the privilege of speaking into their lives and helping them learn.
Lucy also has a passion for worship and co-ordinates and oversees the student worship teams, also providing opportunities for practical development for those who are involved. There is nothing better than seeing people learning to work together, choosing to yield to one another in love and discovering the beauty of surrender in worship.
Shirley Mifetu, Student Services Coordinator
Shirley is originally from the Island of Mauritius, where she worked in the tourist industry as a waitress in the Le Saint Géran Hotel. From 2009 to 2011, she worked with the government as a Freelance Telephone Interviewer for Natcen Social Research, in Brentwood Essex UK. Shirley first came across a testimony of Healing through Andrew Wommack, which she found on the internet, which has radically changed her life. She and her husband, Emmanuel, both attended Charis Bible College, where they learnt more about God’s unconditional love and the balance between grace and faith. They both graduated in 2014.
Shirley has since stepped into the role of Student Services Coordinator, which she enjoys very much. She has a passion to support and encourage the students as they develop and thrive towards their God given potential.
Helen Rodway, Assistant Administrator
Helen and her husband Paul have had experience running home bible study groups in various churches and were involved in a national healing ministry for a while.
Helen is a mother to 4 married children – her youngest son and his wife also work for Andrew Wommack Ministries.
Some teaching that particularly impacted her has been Spirit, Soul & Body, and the Renewing of the Mind in Romans 12 – lessons she had learned in years gone by when her then 12 year old eldest son was diagnosed with leukaemia. To ‘walk on the water’, looking to Jesus beyond the ‘winds and the waves’, and renewing her mind to the truth of God, became her revelation at that time.
Her childcare and nursing backgrounds have stood her in good stead as she helped organise Kingdom Kids at the Grace & Faith Conferences and ministering in schools in her 3rd Year Charis Placement.
Helen plans and endeavours to deliver smooth running to the Hybrid Saturday School, which has been so much enjoyed since it started in January 2017.
Oluwatobi Adewale, Hybrid Saturday School Second Year Coordinator
Oluwatobi was a successful secondary school teacher for 12 years and held a leadership position at his last school before attending Charis Bible College. He attended King’s College University in London where he majored in Theology. Oluwatobi first encountered Andrew Wommack’s teachings in his early twenties when a friend gave him the CD set of Andrew’s teaching titled “You’ve Already Got It”. In the summer of 2015 Oluwatobi had an encounter with God whilst on holiday and heard God tell him to attend bible college. He is a graduate of Charis Bible College Walsall and is now our Hybrid Saturday School Second Year Coordinator. He has a passion for teaching the Word of God with simplicity and enjoys reading and watching football in his spare time.
Paul Rodway, Hybrid Saturday School volunteer
Paul was a dental surgeon for all of his professional life, but when accompanying their son to the Charis Open Week in 2010, Paul, and his wife Helen, discovered an overwhelming desire to join the college as well.
“We’ve not seen anything like this for 20 years!”
2 years later they were able to ‘retire’ straight into college.
Though no strangers to Andrew’s teaching and New Covenant emphases such as Spirit Soul & Body, Freedom from the Law, and Grace – The Power of the Gospel, the consistent exposition from Andrew and other Charis instructors, for Paul, opened a fuller picture and reality of the Life in Christ Jesus and of freedom in the Holy Spirit.
Coming to Charis was like coming home, and has, with Helen, consolidated their thinking and revolutionised their family. It has been such a privilege for Paul to be involved in this ministry and see ‘the Word of God work’ in his life and so many others.
